At Our Lady Immaculate, we recognise the importance of following the call of Jesus to live our lives with an unselfish commitment for the greater good. Through being committed to works of charity, we are developing in children their understanding of the responsibility that has been placed upon us to do what we can to show our support and solidarity with all members of God’s family. Our commitment to support those less fortunate than ourselves leads us to support many local, national and international organisations and charities in their work with those in need. |
Below is a list of some of the charities we donate to.
International Charities
CAFOD
CAFOD work with communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, helping people to tackle the poverty and injustice they face. They work wherever the need is greatest, with people of all faiths and none.
Their latest international updates and emergencies news can be found on their news pages.

The Little Way Association
The Little Way Association is a charity that aims to help the poor, needy and sick in developing countries throughout the world. The name comes from St. Therese of Lisieux, an enclosed Carmelite nun who lived in 19th century France. She saw her vocation as reaching far beyond the convent walls helping those in need throughout the world. The “little way” involves finding the spiritual in the little things of ordinary life. In this way, all of us can play our part in creating a better world.
Operation Christmas Child
National Charities
MacMillan Cancer Support
Every Autumn term we hold a coffee morning for MacMillan Cancer Support. This is well attended by parents and provides a good opportunity to have a catch up on summer holiday news after the six week break. Many of us have been affected by cancer and MacMillan is a much loved charity within the school community.
Genes for Genes Day
Wear it Pink
Having an opportunity to wear pink always brightens up the school day, whilst raising money for an amazing charity.
Children in Need
Children are at the heart of everything we do, it is therefore unsurprising that we love supporting this charity and all that it stands for.
Odd Socks Day
One of our favourite days in Anti-Bullying Week is Odd Socks Day. This is a day to celebrate differences and raise money for the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Cool to be Kind
This year, all of the money raised from our Christmas Jumper Day was donated to a local homeless charity, ‘Cool to be Kind’. As part of their charitable work, they provide rucksacks for people sleeping on the streets during the winter months.
Chelmsford Foodbank
Helping local people in crisis by donating food forms part of our commitment to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
CHESS
CHESS is a local charity who work with the homeless and the vulnerable in our community. We believe that homelessness is a community issue and that requires a community response!
